Demeaning tone not appreciated

To the editor:

We just returned from attending the WASI board meeting and are so upset at the demeaning manner in which Ms. Kaplin spoke to anyone who does not agree with her. We are constantly referred to as “fragile senior citizens” as though we are incapable of thinking or doing for ourselves.

She and the board are constantly blaming the Mat-Su Elder Watch group (of which I am not a member) as though they are the only ones unhappy with the operations of the center. We thank them for having the courage to stand and speak up about the problems that exist at WASI.

The demeaning tone and words she used in speaking of Wasilla City Council members was totally out of line for someone wanting the city to give her money.

We are thankful that you have someone at the meeting to report what really goes on.
