WASILLA— Denali Harley Davidson staff are hosting their first community health fair inside the main showroom Saturday, July 10.

The health fair will feature a variety of vendors and health experts onsite to connect visitors to care providers and answer any questions. Organizations such as the Alaska VA will be onsite during the event.

Denali Harley’s general manager, Fred Becker said there will be COVID-19 vaccines available at the event thanks to their collaboration with partners like the Mat-Su Health Foundation.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to donate blood to the Blood Bank of Alaska during the event. Becker this event stemmed from their existing tradition of holding annual blood drives.

“They said they raise as much money as they’ve ever raised doing previous ones. I expect we’ll do the same,” Becker said.

Becker said this event seemed like a natural progression and they hope to keep holding health fairs annually from this point onward.

“We’ve done a bunch of different blood drives, but we really wanted to do something more,” Becker said. “It’s to put people in contact with the resources that are out there.”

After the health fair, Denali Harley still has plenty of events and activities planned throughout July and the rest of the summer, including a Live Ride event raffling away a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

“We’ve got a lot of fun stuff in July,” Becker said.

Becker said they’re holding their second annual Un-Fair (now called the Un-Fair & Ink Fest), an event created to support local vendors affected by the pandemic, losing income from major cancellations like the Alaska State Fair’s 2020 season. He said about 25 vendors have already signed up, including ASF staples like the Soda Jerk stand.

“We decided because of the input to host it again. I wasn’t expecting to, but it’s back by popular demand I guess,” Becker said.

Becker said they plan to keep holding community events, fundraisers, and other types of activities out of the dealership year-round while working with local businesses, nonprofits, and motorcycle clubs to help wherever they can.

“We want to be part of the Mat-Su community. It’s our goal to facilitate positive things that are happening in the Valley,” Becker said.
