DENNY WILCHER II

Denny Wilcher, II, beloved husband and father, died July 3, 2006, in Wasilla of natural causes. He was 57. Born May 16, 1949, he had a passion for world travel that took him all over the globe. According to his wife, Susan, &#8220Denny loved the wilderness - the mountains, the desert, the ocean and the tropics. He also loved meeting the people of different cities, towns and villages. His travels gave him the kind of rich education that few people are able to experience.” His diverse professional interests were linked to the places he loved. During his time in Alaska, he worked as a Teamster on the Alaska Pipeline, he was the owner and captain of a commercial long-line halibut boat out of Seldovia, and he worked for the Anchorage Public Transit People Mover System. In California, he worked for Teamster Local #87 as a water truck operator as well as for Cal-Trans on the snow plow crew at McGee in Crowley Lake. The only son of Denny Wilcher I, rare books dealer and founding father of the Alaska Conservation Foundation, and Ida Wilcher, professional ballerina and exhibiting artist, he also had a deep appreciation for fine wine, art and literature. A devoted family man, he enjoyed many adventures with Susan and his two daughters, including skiing, snowmobiling, riding their horses, fishing, camping and hunting (and bargain hunting), and divided their time between their California ranch and their holdings in Alaska. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Wheeler Crest Fire Department and volunteer ski instructor for the Round Valley School in Bishop. Continuing his legacy are daughters Jamey, 12, and Dana, 10, and his wife, Susan, who writes, &#8220He was a loving father to his children and a wonderful husband. Dear friends, please remember him in your own special way.” He also is survived by his two sisters, Kita Wilcher and Hannah Corse; brother-in-law, Greg Corse; mother-in-law, Carol Trainor; sister-in-law, Marion Trainor; brother-in-law, Pat Trainor; sister-in-law, Carol Trainor; nieces, Juniper Neill, Lauren Burek, Jessica Neill and Alanna Hutto; and nephew, Shawn Hutto. Donations in Denny Wilcher's name can be made to the Alaska Conservation Foundation (www.akcf.org) or the Sierra Club (www.sierraclub.org). A celebration of his life and spirit will be held in the fall at the Wilcher ranch in Sky Meadows. Arrangements were made with Valley Funeral Home and Crematory.

ZAIDY LANE HARTMAN

A gathering of remembrance for infant Zaidy Lane Hartman will be 3 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2006, at a family friend's home. Call 775-6000 for more information. Zaidy was born and died on July 6, 2006, at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer. She is survived by her mother, Amber Bolam of Palmer; and father, Shawn Hartman of Big Lake; maternal grandmother, Linda Bolam of Palmer; aunt, Sheila Jette of Palmer; and uncle, Kyle Bolam of Palmer. Private burial will be at Palmer Pioneer Cemetery. Arrangements by Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.

JASON ANDREW MORROW SR.

Jason Andrew Morrow Sr., 34, of Juneau, a former Valley resident, died July 7, 2006, at the University of Washington Hospital in Seattle after a long battle with Hodgkin's disease. Services were held July 13, 2006, at Alaskan Memorial Park and Mortuary in Juneau. Jason was born in Pendleton, Ore.. on Feb. 12, 1972. He graduated from Mazama High School in Klamath Falls, Ore., in 1990 and moved to Peter's Creek in 1992. After graduating from culinary school in Seward, where he met his wife, he moved to Juneau and made a home there with her and their three children. Jason spent his time in Juneau cooking, driving his taxicab, playing his guitars and fishing at his favorite places with his family. He is survived by his wife, Sherrilyn; daughters, Kelleen and Alison; and son, Jason Jr., all of Juneau; parents, Jim and Patty Scantlin of Golden, Col., and Adeline St. Clair of Hoonah; sister, Shauna Koehler of Big Lake; grandmother, Jennie Lindoff of Hoonah; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family members and friends.Memorial donations may be made to the Jason Morrow Memorial fund, c/o Adeline St. Clair, P.O.
