ROBERT DeBERRY/Frontiersman Colony defensive coordinator Jamie Mayo speaks with his players during the first half of a 20-17 win over Wasilla last week. Despite the win, Colony dropped from third to fifth in the large-schools football poll.

PALMER —Apparently Colony’s win over Wasilla didn’t impress some of the voters. Despite a 20-17 victory over the Warriors last Friday at Wasilla High School, Colony dropped two spots in the latest Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network’s Prep Football Poll.

Colony (4-2 overall, 4-0 in the Railbelt Conference) is ranked fifth by the Alaska sportswriters and sports broadcasters on the large-schools list. The Palmer Moose, who fill face Colony Friday at Colony High School, also received votes in the poll. Palmer improved to 4-2 with a 38-21 win over West Valley last Friday.

West Anchorage, the lone undefeated team left on the large-schools ranks, is ranked first once again. The Eagles beat rival East Anchorage 35-3.

Service, a winner of five straight, is ranked second after a victory over Eagle River. Juneau-Douglas moved into the No. 3 spot after a 53-0 win over Lathrop.

Dimond, a 9-6 winner of South Anchorage, is ranked fourth.

Soldotna (6-0) stayed on top of the small-schools list with a 29-18 road win over large-schools North Pole. Thunder Mountain, also undefeated, is ranked second.

Skyview moved into the top-five with a lopsided win over Houston and is ranked fifth.

Eielson (5-1) and Kenai (4-2) are ranked third and fourth respectively.
