PALMER — Apparently a win over the three-time defending 3A state champions wasn’t quite enough.

Despite a 24-17 win over Soldotna last Friday, the Colony Knights have fallen from first to third in the latest Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network Prep Football Poll.

Colony had been ranked No. 1 on the 4A list for two weeks, but now hold the third spot in the media poll released by ASBN Monday afternoon.

Defending 4A state champion Service moves into the top spot for the first time this season. The Cougars cruised to a 53-17 nonconference win over West Valley on Friday.

West Anchorage also leap-frogs the Knights after their 20-13 win over Cook Inlet Conference rival Bartlett. Juneau-Douglas (3-1) is back in the top-five after a week hiatus, and is ranked fourth following its 36-7 over Palmer.

South Anchorage is ranked fifth for the second consecutive week. The Wolverines posted a come-from-behind 28-27 nonconfernece win over North Pole. There was no movement on the 3A list. Kenai (4-0) is once again the top team among the small schools after its 69-0 drubbing of Seward, the Kards’ fourth shutout in as many weeks.
