Destiney Taylor Butcher, approximately 3 months, died at her home in Wasilla on April 21, 2005. A funeral service was held April 27 at 1 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Wasilla. Pastor Fred Stroud officiated and pallbearers were Gary Butcher Jr., Ken Steininger, Kenny Steininger, Cory Steininger and John Butcher. Burial followed at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery.
Destiney was born at Valley Hospital in Palmer on Jan. 23, 2005.
Her family wrote, "Destiney was the best thing in our lives. Since day one, she has been very strong. Destiney had the ability to make anyone smile for hours. Grandma and Grandpa Steininger said, 'We remember how when she smiled, she would stick her little tongue out at you while you held her precious hand and her beautiful face. We love you and miss you a lot!' Grandpa Butcher would like to say, 'In some way, this beautiful little girl brought this family a lot closer. I love her and miss her. We all love her and miss her more than anything in the world, and we wish that she was still here.'"
She is survived by her father and mother, John Butcher and Becky Steininger of Wasilla; paternal grandfather, Gary Butcher Jr. of Big Lake; paternal grandmother, Kathy Urquhart of Anchorage and maternal grandparents, Ken and Darlene Steininger of Hoquiam, Wash. Numerous other aunts, uncles and friends also survive her. Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
