Trim to Win has given me the opportunity to reflect on years of dieting and exercise. I’ve thought a lot about what I’ve done that has worked, what hasn’t, and how I should proceed. I’m guessing that many of you have been on what seems like an endless list of diets, just like me. Here’s a sampling of what I’ve tried:
Atkins
Weight Watchers
Jenny Craig
Nutri-System
Slim Fast
Phen-Fen
Ideal Protein
Medifast
South Beach
Diet To Go
Alli
And of course the cabbage diet, the grapefruit diet, the cookie diet…and on and on….
Some of my thinner friends’ eyes will glaze over when they read this. They may be thinking, , it’s so simple: you just have to burn more calories than you consume. Duh. Well, guess what: anyone who has struggled with a weight problem already knows that. We’re not stupid. Knowing the right way to eat and then actually following through are two really different things. Every day is an adventure and a challenge. I’m not going to weigh myself again till Monday, and I hope to have a negative number to report. Till then – exercise most days and reasonable eating every day!
