To the editor:
We have been going to the Wasilla Independence Day parade for years, and have always enjoyed it.
I was a little disappointed in it [this year] for a couple of reasons. Where was the patriotic music? Where were the flags and the honor guard? Where were the bands? We did have a sufficient amount of political entries — as usual. There did not seem to be many entries overall.
Was it because it was held on Sunday instead of Saturday? Was it because everyone was out fishing? No sunshine? Cool weather?
The community band was playing when we got there, but unless you were 100 feet or closer, you could not hear it.
Also, the National Guard did not even carry the American flag.
Well, happy Fourth of July to all. Just wanted to say I have enjoyed the parade in years past much more than this one.
