WASILLA — Dangerous winter roads caused the Mat-Su Borough School District to cancel classes at several Susitna Valley schools on Friday.
At just before 6 a.m. the district announced that Trapper Creek Elementary, Talkeetna Elementary, Su Valley Jr./Sr. High and Beryozova School had been called off.
Also canceled were a pair of buses slated to drive the Palmer and Wasilla wrestling teams to a tournament in Fairbanks. Both schools' athletic directors said Friday morning that they'd wrestle on Saturday at the Colony Invite instead.
Travel was reportedly treacherous on the Parks Highway Friday, with intermittent areas of blowing snow, fog and icy conditions reported from the Houston area north to Fairbanks.
