To the editor:
Recently, my son enjoyed the Boy Scout Fall Camporee at the Elks Camp near Palmer. He belongs to Troop 395, and the Scouts learned a lot about emergency preparedness and first aid.
Unfortunately, while there I was stalked and verbally assaulted by a parent from another troop. He took issue with my Obama bumper sticker and demanded to know how I could possibly support him. I told him that I wasn’t there to discuss my political beliefs with him and walked away. He refused to let it go and continued to follow me — voice raised and arms waving — demanding that I explain myself to him.
As a woman who has experienced violence at the hands of a stranger, I became quite anxious as I didn’t know what he was capable of. He did not leave me alone until I walked to an area where there were other adults around.
What kind of man verbally assaults a 59-year-old woman over a bumper sticker, and what kind of twisted message does that send our impressionable young boys?
