WASILLA — Local divers led Valley athletes during the Chugiak-Bartlett Invitational swimming and diving meet Oct. 5-6.
Wasilla’s Jayde Chan finished first in the girls’ 1 meter diving event, with 402.40 total points. Chan was among five Valley divers in the top 8 of the event. Chan’s teammate, Carrie Meyer, finished third overall. Palmer’s Tyler Coffman and Chloe Hartman placed fifth and sixth. Colony’s Ansley Thorton was seventh.
Colony’s Eli Krozel led Valley divers in the boys’ event, finishing third.
Alexis Mattson finished in the top 8 in a pair of events. The Colony standout was third in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 100 breaststroke. Konnor Kolberg was placed in the top 8 in a pair of events for the Knights. Kolberg was second in the 200 individual medley and seventh in the 100 butterfly. Taylor Nelson also earned an eighth-place finish in the girls’ 100 backstroke for the Knights.
Miles Laughlin led Wasilla with a fifth-place finish in the boys’ 100 breaststroke. Wasilla’s Jocelyn Barrette was eighth in the girls’ 500 freestyle.
