Members of the Friends of Mat-Su have a goal to lock up the Mat-Su Borough from the use of snowmobiling, motorized boating and four-wheeling.
When I was at a Hatcher Pass Planning meeting, a member of the Friends of Mat-Su said, “Riding a snowmobile is like smoking cigarettes: we got rid of the smokers in Anchorage and we’ll be successful on getting rid of the snowmachiners in the Mat-Su Borough.”
If you enjoy motorized recreation now is the time to get involved; otherwise you’ll lose your privileges!
Right now you may take a survey online for the Nancy Lake Area at dnr.alaska.gov/parks/units/nancylk/planning.htm and just to pre-warn you, DNR has the questions worded in a biased direction in favor of the greenies.
The Friends of Mat-Su is working hard with DNR and their closed-door meetings for this organized lock down in the Mat-Su Borough.
