To the editor:
I have lived in the Valley for almost three years now, and I must say I am appalled at how many people just flat-out refuse to pull over for emergency vehicles with lights and sirens blaring.
Not only is this lawfully wrong, it is morally wrong as well. Those officers, EMTs and firefighters have been dispatched to save lives, respond to car accidents, assaults, fires, heart attacks and many, many more potentially life-threatening situations. Thirty seconds could be the difference between life and death, and people need to pull over!
This is a fineable offense, but the reality is police and first responders are too busy trying to get around you and save a life to issue a ticket, so do everyone in our Valley a favor and pull over. It could be the difference between life and death. Just think about what you would want people to do if a loved one were waiting for a first responder to save his or her life.
