HOUSTON — A Houston resident’s dog brought home a human skull Friday morning from a nearby vacant lot.
Megan Peters, spokeswoman for the Alaska State Troopers, said Saturday evening a time of death hasn’t yet been determined, but the remains indicate the death didn’t occur recently. She also couldn’t say if foul play may have been involved and didn’t know if anybody had been reported missing.
She said troopers are working now to determine an identification of the body.
“We went out there to try to find out why the remains were there,” she said.
The lot is apparently in a neighborhood known as Enchanted Forest Subdivision. It’s off King Arthur Drive, a main road through Houston.
Murphy Rankin, a bartender at the Houston Lodge, said, “You can’t miss it; it’s all taped off.”
Rankin said a customer came into the lodge Friday and said the body was of a 25-year-old woman, but admitted, “It’s just rumor. I don’t know how he found that out.”
Houston’s only police officer, Charley McAnnally, who was called by the dog’s owner, was off duty Saturday evening and couldn’t be reached for comment.
