Do dog trainers get trained? Yes as a matter of fact they do. One question I asked Mrs. Warmer was if she had any basic training before she received Rudder. She responded with yes and no. Her dogs she owned were a big help because they were put through a basic obedience course. But otherwise Mrs. Warner didn't receive any basic training from the Service Dog Program.
She also said she got to meet Rudder before she received him. What they do if they #would match the perfect dog with the perfect foster homes, (e.g quiet and calm home for a restful and loving dog).
Another question I asked her was if she got to pick the dog she wanted. What they do is you don't get to choose which one, they choose it for you.
And last but not least, was Rudder given to you with little or no training? She responded that he was taught all the basic commands like sit, good boy and lay down.
All of us at CMS love Rudder, and the Service Dog Program. I personally love Rudder because of his calmness and willing to learn.
