Doing nothing is not stewardship

To the editor:

My response to Barbara Bailey Brown is the only thing Barbara got correct was the title. Stewardship is the key to using our resources. Farmers demonstrate this every year.

Plant potatoes, harvest potatoes. Would you consider it good stewardship to allow a farm to go to weeds and harvest nothing? Or is it stewardship when we let old growth forests rot? Stewardship is the efficient and conservative use of our resources.

Leaving our resources dormant is not good stewardship.
