Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Donald Dean Provins, 60, died of natural causes at Valley Hospital in Palmer on March 6, 2005. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Wasilla.
Mr. Provins was born in Missouri on July 29, 1944. He moved to Alaska in 1973, where he lived in Anchorage and worked for BF Goodrich before becoming disabled. He moved to Wasilla to be close to his friends at the Palmer Senior Center, where he visited them often. He enjoyed playing the guitar and spending time with his grandchildren.
His family wrote, "Dad always had a smile on his face and a good story to tell. He loved to play guitar and play with his grandchildren. We will all miss him so much!"
Mr. Provins is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Dan Lengyel; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Christine Provins; grandchildren, Nichole and Alexandra Lengyel; Anthony, Andrew and Kimberly Provins. Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
