Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Donald William Patrick Henn, 67, died at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage on Feb. 14, 2005.
Visitation and a rosary were scheduled to take place at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wasilla.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 19, also at Sacred Heart Church. Pallbearers will be Joseph Henn, Edward Henn, Frank Knutson, Jack Knutson and Tyron Neel. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, on Edlund Road in Wasilla. Floral arrangements are welcome.
Mr. Henn was born Nov. 3, 1937, in Frazee, Becker County, Minn. He was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1958. During this time, he earned a Corporal Marksmanship Award for sharpshooting and a Good Conduct medal in 1956. He moved to Alaska in 1959 and resided in Anchorage, until moving to make Wasilla his home in 1963.
He was employed as a Teamster for the Local 959 with Sealand of Anchorage from 1970 to 2000. He retired from Sealand in 2000. He was a charter member of Sacred Heart Parish in Wasilla, was an Oblate of St. Benedict of St. John's Abbey in Collegeville, Minn., a volunteer of the Wasilla Food Bank and held memberships with the Parish Council and the Audubon Society and Alaska Wildflower Society. He enjoyed the natural sciences, game and rock hunting and fishing.
His family wrote, "Don was a kind, generous and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was always giving of his time and knowledge. His great happiness was spending time with his family. His hands and heart were filled with love."
Mr. Henn is survived by his wife, Rosemarie (Reisinger) Henn; sons, Joseph and Edward Henn of Wasilla; daughters, Catherine Henn of Wasilla and Caroline Urban of Kodiak; grandchildren, Michael Henn of Kodiak, Garrett and Calee Henn of Wasilla and sisters, Marilyn Schoener of Millbrook, Ala. and Louise Calhoun of St. Cloud, Minn.
Memorial donations may be sent to the family at 1291 Peck St., Wasilla, AK 99654-5800. Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
