Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Willow resident Donald W. O'Connell, 71, died at his home Dec. 25, 2002.
A graveside service with full military honors was held Thursday, Jan. 2, at Ft. Richardson National Cemetery at Fort Richardson.
Mr. O'Connell was born April 14, 1931, in Riverside, Calif. He became a resident of Alaska in 1991, residing in Willow. He was retired from the United States Air Force.
Mr. O'Connell's hobbies included hunting, fishing and cooking.
He is survived by his daughters, Dianne Rodriguez of Hondo, Texas and Joanne Walters of Orange, Texas; his sister, Patricia Berger of Mico, Texas; grandchildren, Sonny Sealey, Brittany Rodriguez, Kristy Johnson, Shelly Carpenter, Jerilyn and Jeremy Harvill; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorial donations be sent to a favorite charity.
Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla.
