Now that all donated funds and food have been distributed to the food bank beneficiaries of the Mayors’ Ball in Palmer, it is time that the major donators be recognized.
And here they are: Vander Weele Farms and Palmer Produce donated more than one ton of packaged potatoes — and without missing a heartbeat. First National Bank Alaska made its usual considerable gift. Joe Griffith and MTA both bought tickets for tables — and even offered to do more. The cities of Houston and Wasilla, as well as their chambers of commerce, bought tickets with the city of Wasilla nicely enhancing its contribution.
There were, of course, many other willing contributors, but the above stand out. The Greater Palmer Chamber of Commerce was a champ at donating its financial services and employee assistance. UPS gave real financial support as it always does and Strange Bird Media provided graphics without charge. Jessica and Tim Berberich’s donation of their lottery multi-hundred dollar cash prize was truly a grand gesture.
The food banks are a bit less barren, thanks to these donors.
And what a social success. Tuxedos in the Valley! Several communities are looking forward to a like event next year.
Many thanks to all.
