To the editor:
Alaska Dog and Puppy Rescue is humbled by the generosity shown from the many Alaskans who donated a portion of their dividend checks to our group. This year, you made a difference by donating $65,100 to the homeless dogs and puppies throughout Alaska. This money will allow for many dogs to be rescued and united with their forever homes.
Each of these dogs will be spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated, and dewormed. In addition, any medical issues will be addressed. These dogs are rescued from throughout Alaska, including Bush communities such as Kotzebue, Dutch Harbor and Bethel.
Alaska Dog and Puppy Rescue has formed alliances with rescue groups in various communities, as well as with many veterinarians — all for the benefit of Alaskan dogs. The support shown by Alaskans, with the Permanent Fund donations, will allow us to continue to provide this level of service. In addition, Alaska Dog and Puppy Rescue also has solidified its Companion Animal Food Bank program, providing dog food and treats for families struggling financially. During the last month, we have been fortunate enough to be able to help Houston Animal Control and many families who have been impacted by flooding and wind damage.
Once again, thank you for believing in Alaska Dog and Puppy Rescue. We encourage you to join us and become a volunteer or provide a foster home for the many wonderful dogs that have not yet been fortunate enough to find a home.
Together, we will work toward a day where there will be no more homeless dogs.
