Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Palmer resident Donna Lynn Sexton, 33, died peacefully at home on Sept. 7, 2002.
A graveside service was held on Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. at Palmer Pioneer Cemetery, with a potluck dinner immediately following at Butte Fire Department.
The honorable pallbearers were William Jay Waldrip, Raymond Clarence Waldrip, Allen, Clifford and Mike Sexton, William Mrak, Aaron Combs and Hank Warner.
Mrs. Sexton was born in Lake Port, Calif. on Oct. 18, 1968.
She moved to Alaska with her parents in 1989. She met her soul mate, Mark Sexton, in the fall of 1993. She and Mark married on Jan. 15, 1994, in Palmer.
Her family said, "Donna enjoyed many types of arts and crafts, garage sales, culinary delights and doing for others. Donna's love for children and family was always her first and foremost joy in life. Holidays were always her favorite part of the year, and she would always strive to make the most of the season for the children. She would always help those that were less fortunate. Her loving ways and gracious heart will be missed by all who knew her."
She is survived by her husband Mark Sexton; daughter Kaylee, 8; sons Steven, 4, Adam, 2; parents Jackie Lee and Karen Kay Waldrip; brothers William Jay and Raymond Clarence Waldrip; sister Kathryn Lee Tuttle; and 18 niece and nephews, and many other family members.
She was preceded in death by grandparents William Jewel, Beaulah May Waldrip, Haskell Elwood, Margaret Brown; mother and father-in-law Elmer and Lottie Sexton; and nephew William Michael Mrak.
Arrangements were made by Kehl's Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Ronald McDonald House.
