To the editor:
I am a retired veteran from the U.S. Army. Recently, I was driving around Wasilla taking care of some errands when I noticed the United States flag flying by one eyelet on top of an establishment. I stopped and told them about it. I was told they would let the owner know about it.
I was picking up mail at the Post Office when I noticed it was still not corrected. The company was called and was told about the flag a second time. Once again I was told they would tell the owner.
While picking up my mail this weekend, I noticed the flag was still not flying properly. Upon looking closer, it was connected by both eyelets, but flying upside down. I am tired of the way people disrespect the flag.
It not only disrespects the flag, but also our country, all veterans and those service members who are risking their lives or dying on foreign soil to give us our freedom to fly it proudly. I think if you can’t respect the flag and fly it properly, then take it down.
