MAT-SU — The Mat-Su Borough is warning target shooters to avoid the Point MacKenzie trailhead this summer.
“Bullets whizzed past surveyors in the woods at Point MacKenzie March 20,” according to a borough press release.
The surveyors are out there now, and will be until the fall, doing preparatory work for the coming rail extension from the Alaska Railroad’s mainline down to the borough’s docks. They’ll also be on the other end of the rail extension, near Miller’s Reach Road in Houston.
“Please do not shoot from the trailhead parking lot near milepost 17 on Point MacKenzie Road,” the borough says in its press release. “Spread the word about workers in the area and the danger of shooting there.”
