DORIS ANN ANDERSON

Former Palmer resident Doris Ann “Dory” Anderson , 78, died Aug. 3, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Wickenburg, Ariz., after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer.

Dory lived a fulfilled life, surrounded by the love of family, friends and the Lord Jesus Christ, her family wrote.

She was born Dec. 25, 1931, in Wahpeton, N.D. She graduated high school in Stanwood, Wash., where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Richard.

Dory and Richard moved to Alaska soon after the birth of their first child and raised their family in Palmer. They then traveled around the world, working in far-off places, including Africa and Iran. They moved from California to Wickenburg in 1985 and Dory opened TravelMasters with her daughter and passed on the business to her granddaughter and great-granddaughters. She always enjoyed being a travel agent and loved to experience new and different places, especially cruising, which she did four to five times a year.

Dory was a 50-year member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was always outgoing and had so many valuable relationships because of her loyal friendships with people, and she was truly known and loved. She was very involved in her local church. She was an active member of the Gospel Outreach Church in Wickenburg and after moving to Colorado, the Evangelical Free Church in Cañon City. Dory left a great legacy of faith for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly.

Dory is survived by children Richard (Roxanne) Anderson, Kristy (Victor) Bedoian and David Anderson; brothers James Hendershot and William (Julie) Hendershot; grandchildren Sally (Patrick) Killoran, Janel (Kevin) Causey, Emily Bedoian, Kristy (Josh) Neeley and Adam (Shannon) Bedoian; great-grandchildren Hannah, Lydia and Abigail Killoran, Pierce, Dahlia, Bella and Cruz Neeley, and Grace and Anna Bedoian.

She was preceded in death by parents Lee and Lillie Hendershot; husband, Richard; sister Virginia (Ginger) Hustoft; and sister-in-law Marion Hendershot.

Her family will have private services in Wickenburg. A memorial service will be held at a later date both in Wickenburg and in Cañon City. In lieu of flowers, Dory requested contributions be made to Gospel Outreach Christian School in Wickenburg.
