Dorothea Emilie Best, “Thea” (90) of Wasilla, Alaska passed away November, 26, 2022 after multiple strokes. Thea was born in Regensburg, Germany to Franz Xaver Geiger and Maria Weber on February 24, 1932. She was the youngest of 7 children. Thea came to the United States when she married Richard James Best. She was a survivor of World War II in Bavaria, Germany. She moved to Alaska in 1963 and survived the quake on Good Friday in 1964. Her family moved to Wasilla in 1975 where they built their forever home. Thea was a devoted disciple of Jesus Christ and a generous friend. She enjoyed gardening, salmon fishing and berry picking. She spent weeks each year making traditional German Christmas cookies. Thea is survived by her two daughters, Linda Marley (Pat) and Heidi Crawford (David), 11 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren with 3 more expected. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents and siblings. Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the Colony Chapel, Wednesday, November 30 at 1:00pm.
