Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Houston, Alaska resident Dorothy “Boots” Attwood, 86, passed peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer Alaska.
Celebration of Life was held on Friday, April 1, 2016, at VFW Hall, 301 E Lake View Ave, Wasilla, Alaska 99654. Her son, Ron Lundy, officiated the service.
Boots was born July 5, 1929, to James Earl and Dorothy Issabelle (Hall) Clark, in California. In high school she was captain of the debate team and graduated with honors. During WWII at age 16, Dorothy ran messages as a civilian. She moved to Chugiak, Alaska in 1962 until 1973. She then moved to Norfolk, Virginia for a year, then moved to California to be near her family. She worked for the school district of Azusa, California from 1974 to 1978. She then moved to Woodward, Oklahoma from 1979 to 1989, where she worked at the Bank of Woodward. Boots moved back to Alaska in 1989, residing in Wasilla until 2004 when she moved to Houston where she resided until her passing. She was baptized as a Christian at age 16. She explored many spiritual paths and always believed in the love of God and the afterlife. Boots believed in love above all, and her deepest of loves was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her little garden and being outside in nature.
Boots was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeannie Attwood.
She is survived by her brothers, James and Ray Clark, both of California; sons, Wil Attwood of Big Lake, Alaska, Tom Attwood of Anchorage, Alaska, Ron Attwood of Indiana, and Tim Attwood of Houston, Alaska; daughter, Joanna Eppler of Wasilla, Alaska; son, Willy Attwood of Oklahoma; daughter, Jeri Attwood of Wasilla, Alaska; son, Reuel Attwood of Anchorage, Alaska; and more than a hundred grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
