DOROTHY V. MOORE

Longtime Alaska resident Dorothy Virena Moore died Aug. 8, 2005, of natural causes, at Michael's Place Assisted Living in Palmer. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Aug. 12, at the Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Wasilla. The Rev. Charles Masterson will officiate. Flowers are welcome.

Mrs. Moore was born Sept. 6, 1918, in Depew, Creek County, Oklahoma. In 1982, she moved to Alaska, where she has lived in Wasilla, Chugiak and Palmer. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and dancing. She was a member of the Eastern Stars, American Legion and of the Baptist faith.

Her family wrote, "She had a very hard life and lived as a sharecropper. She had her first heart attack at age 35. A judge told her to put her children up for adoption, but she said as long as she could breathe, she would keep them with her. She would always help someone if she could. Her life on earth has come to an end, but really it's a new beginning. God has taken her by the hand to take her to her new home.

Her parents, Bessie and Paskchel Moore; son, Jimmy O'Donnell; daughter, Rose Lee O'Donnell, and sisters, Goldie Dodion, Hazel Stearman and Donna Moore, preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter, Patsy Ann Kneff of Wasilla; son, Tom O'Donnell of Wasilla; grandchildren, Chuck Kneff of Wasilla, Marvin Kneff of Pahrump, Nev., and Phylis Czajkowski of Cotati, Calif.; brothers, Olie and Kenneth Moore of Perkins, Okla.; sisters, Opel Moore and Shirley Rowland of Perkins, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Destiny and Kathy Kneff of Pahrump, Nev., Rose Lee and Patricia O'Donnell of Anchorage and Phylis and James O'Donnell of Phoenix, and seven great-great grandchildren.

Donations may be made to the Hospice of Mat-Su, 3051 E. Palmer-Wasilla Hwy., Wasilla, AK 99654. Arrangements are with Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
