Douglas Clark Maze, 55, died Nov. 6, 2001, in Honolulu, Hawaii, of complications resulting from a stroke. Mr. Maze was born Oct. 8, 1946 in Anchorage. He then resided in Palmer and graduated from Palmer High School.
Mr. Maze was employed by Hartley Motors and Automotive Parts and Equipment Co. Mr. Maze enjoyed working on automobiles and drag racing at the strip at the Butte. He had garnered numerous awards and trophies throughout his career in racing.
One of the highlights of his life was singing one day with Ricky Nelson in the late 1950s. While in Alaska, Mr. Maze enjoyed fishing and camping out with his boys. Mr. Maze moved to Hawaii in 1982. He was employed in various trades until his death.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Maze; father, John "Jack" Maze; and brother, John Maze. He is survived by his sons, Kenneth and Russell.
