Driver killed in single-vehicle crash near Sutton

One person was killed near Sutton Thursday night in a single-vehicle crash. Troopers had not yet released the name of the driver as of Friday morning.

According to an online Trooper dispatch, police were called to a single-vehicle collision near Mile 68 of the Glenn Highway around 10:18 p.m. According to the report, the southbound vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree and caught fire.

Troopers said the driver, and sole occupant, died as a result of the crash. The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage for an autopsy and positive identification. The crash remains under investigation.
