TODD L. DISHER/Frontiersman A car turning east from South Clapp Street onto Kink-Goose Bay Road was stuck by another traveling west, causing traffic to back up Tuesday afternoon. No serious injuries were reported, but the driver of the car making the turn was transported to Mat-Su Regional.

A head-on collision Tuesday afternoon backed up traffic on Knik-Goose Bay Road, but the cars sustained more damage than the drivers.

The driver of a blue Toyota Matrix turned left from South Clapp Street when it was struck by a blue Toyota Yaris traveling 55 mph westbound on Knik-Goose Bay, said Alaska State Trooper Ryan Bowen.

“It was head-on with a bit of an angle. That’s what saved them,” Bowen said. “Whenever someone has the right-of-way, the other driver is at fault, especially if there is a stop sign.”

The wreck caused no serious injuries, but the driver of the Matrix was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center as a precaution.
