WASILLA — A head-on collision Tuesday afternoon backed up traffic on Knik-Goose Bay Road, but the cars sustained more damage than the drivers.

The driver of a blue Toyota Matrix turned left from South Clapp Street when it was struck by a blue Toyota Yaris traveling 55 mph westbound on Knik-Goose Bay Road, said Alaska State Trooper Ryan Bowen.

“It was head-on with a bit of an angle. That’s what saved them,” Bowen said. “Whenever someone has the right-of-way, the other driver is at fault, especially if there is a stop sign.”

The wreck caused no serious injuries, but the driver of the Matrix was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center as a precaution.
