Drivers need to slow down

To the editor:

I have lived in Wasilla for a year now, and love it, and been in Alaska for a total of five years and I have never seen worse drivers. You all drive worse than the idiots that drive the Beltway around D.C. There are many issues that get to me, but two go hand in hand. Why is everyone is such a hurry? If I’m going the speed limit I’m getting run over.

That’s a main reason gas prices are so high. If you slow down you save gas. You all travel the same roads everyday and making up that minute

or two really is not a big deal. You all are in such a hurry that you all cannot wait a minute for someone to turn in front of you. You all

either pull out onto the shoulder to go around someone turning left or pull out into oncoming traffic to go around someone turning right. This

is so dangerous. I don’t know how many times the person in front of me swerves to go around a turning car and I have to slam on my breaks.

Why? Why are you all in such a hurry? You can’t wait to get to that next light…or get to the new Target. Also, being in a hurry leads you to tailgate. I was on my way to work this morning (3:45 a.m.) and pulled out on to KGB getting up to speed when this car came up behind me close enough to almost bump draft me. So of course he passes me. Zooms up to the truck out ahead of me and passes him. You know where he was in a hurry to get to? Home Depot. What’s the point?

I do think KGB needs a turning lane, but just be patient for the time being and drive safely.
