Drug probe nets 3 more local arrests

WASILLA — Alaska State Troopers say they have made more arrests related to an marijuana grow investigation that first came to light when one man was arrested last week.

According to a pair of AST press releases, the marijuana grow was busted April 3. Wayne D. Jones, 61, was allegedly responsible for the operation and was home at the time. Troopers arrested him and seized 39 plants, growing equipment and three guns.

Jones was charged with drug misconduct for growing marijuana and weapons misconduct both for being a felon in possession of a weapon and for having a gun near a drug operation.

A little over a week later, troopers at 9:30 a.m., Friday arrested Matthew Lundy, 32.

Troopers suspect he helped in the marijuana cultivation operation and gave Jones one of the guns.

“Investigators also contacted Joshua Grunstein, age 31, of Wasilla, and Katrina Bartlett, age 32, of Wasilla. Bartlett provided several false names to investigators and was assisted by Lundy and Grunstein in providing the false names,” troopers report.

Once they figured out who Bartlett was, troopers learned she had a felony warrant out for her arrest for vehicle theft.

Lundy was jailed on charges of drug and weapons misconduct and for hindering prosecution with bail set at $12,500. He’ll be required to find a third party to watch over him before he can be released.

Bartlett was arrested for the warrant and on new charges of providing false information. Bail was set at $5,000. Grunstein also was charged with hindering prosecution with bail set at $2,500.

Jones and Lundy have both posted bail. Jail records as of Saturday afternoon showed that Grunstein was still incarcerated. Efforts to find a listing for Bartlett failed.
