Drug store robber enters plea

PALMER — One of two men charged with robbery in the 2006 holdup of the Susitna Professional Pharmacy pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of robbery.

Brian Shook, 23, was initially set to change his plea in early June, but didn’t show up. He was picked up on an outstanding warrant last month after he was spotted jumping from an apartment window on Tweed Court in Wasilla while Alaska State Troopers were making another arrest at the residence.

According to the plea agreement Shook accepted before Superior Court Judge Eric Smith, he will serve no more than seven years in prison and prosecutors have agreed not to refer the case to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Prosecutors will also dismiss two counts of drug misconduct he faced in the case.

Shook and another man, Brandon Dodd, 27, were arrested in May 2006 after Alaska State Troopers fingered them as the two men who entered the pharmacy wearing masks, making off with medications but no cash.

Shook is set to receive his sentence Oct. 24.
