WILLOW — As evidence a person was drinking and driving goes, it seems it would be harder to get more airtight than witness accounts from the Willow Townsite Friday afternoon.
According to Alaska State Troopers, at 3:16 p.m. a member of the public called to report watching a woman troopers say they later identified as Ann McLain buy a bottle of whiskey from the store, drink the entire thing at the gas pump, then get in her silver 2004 Mercedes and drive off.
Troopers later found the car at 3:36 p.m., parked at a home on Grubstake Lane. They arrested McLain, 65, of Willow, on drunken driving charges and booked her at the Mat-Su Pretrial Facility where she was ordered held on $1,000 bail. As of Saturday afternoon she’d posted bail and been released.
