To the editor:
I met Michael Dunleavy five years ago when his daughter was a kindergartner in my classroom at Tanaina Elementary. He was an engaged parent in our school community and cared deeply about success for all of my students.
The last three years, I have been a teacher mentor with the Alaska Statewide Mentor Project. Mike has been the project director. The Mentor Project is a non-evaluative program that works diligently toward the goals of student achievement and teacher performance. Mike will be a change agent for our children and their education in the classrooms of our schools.
He holds passion, a diligent work ethic and proven leadership in championing education as a dad and community leader. He values action and results for all learners.
I support Mike Dunleavy for school board as he will strive to give every student a “first class” education as well as making sound decisions with balancing our school dollars.
