Dunleavy has what it takes

To the editor:

As a retired Mat-Su teacher and Valley resident, I am supporting Mike Dunleavy for Seat A of the Mat-Su School Board.

Upon retiring, I went to work for the Alaska Statewide Mentor Project, which was formed by a partnership with the Alaska Department of Education and the University of Alaska. Mike Dunleavy has been the project manager of this program for the last four years. His focus has been finding ways to support new teachers in a non-evaluative way that moves their classroom practice forward and positively impacts student achievement by keeping good teachers in front of Alaska’s children.

Mike is passionate in his work in understanding the issues that face teachers and school districts across the state. He understands educational policy and budgets, and how it impacts teachers in the classroom. I feel his experience would be a positive influence on the Mat-Su Board of Education. One visit to his Web site www.mikedunleavyk12.com/endorsements shows that he has a comprehensive understanding of the issues facing our school district, and he has solutions. I encourage you to do your research and join me in voting for Mike Dunleavy for the Mat-School School Board.
