WASILLA — The Inaugural Celebration for Governor-elect Mike Dunleavy is scheduled for Dec. 4 in Wasilla, according to a press release issued by Dunleavy’s transition team Saturday night.
Dunleavy, who defeated Democratic nominee Mark Begich in the race for governor on Nov. 6 made the announcement Saturday during an appearance in Fairbanks. Dunleavy, a former state senator, resides with his family in Wasilla.
Dunleavy also announced he will be sworn in as Alaska’s next governor Dec. 3 in Noorvik. The village located on the Kobuk River near Kotzebue is the hometown of Dunleavy’s wife, Rose.
It was Dunleavy’s decision to host the swearing in ceremony in Noorvik.
Cynthia Henry, of Fairbanks, and Rina Salazar, of Anchorage, were announced as co-char of the Inaugural Celebrations.
