PALMER — Early voting is available for next week’s special election.
People can vote all the way up to Monday, the day before election, so long as they show up at the right time and the right place.
The Mat-Su Borough says that ballots are available at the clerk’s office at borough headquarters in on Dahlia Avenue in downtown Palmer.
The Division of Elections office on Bogard Road in the North Fork Professional Building also has ballots on hand. The state office has longer hours than the borough’s — it’s open until 8 p.m. during the week and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Ballots are also available at the city of Houston, Talkeetna Public Library and Trapper Creek Public Library.
This election is for borough mayor and includes a crowded field of candidates — retired telecommunications worker Ken Clark, Palmer farmer and political veteran Larry DeVilbiss, community volunteer and former first responder Kurt Jarmer, Palmer farmer and borough gadfly John Leiner, combat veteran and former school board member Brian Sullivan, college student and political newcomer Jeff Ward and healthcare administrator David Wilson.
Former Green Beret and current Butte resident Bruce Walden was in the race but dropped out and threw his support behind DeVilbiss, according to DeVilbiss’ campaign website.
