Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Edith LaVaughn Larson of Wasilla died at Valley Hospital in Palmer Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, following an illness of several years. She was 75 years old.
Funeral services have been set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Wasilla Assembly of God church. Rev. Paul Riley will conduct the service.
Mrs. Larson was born in Ponca City, Okla. on Nov. 8, 1926. On April 27, 1944, she was married to Leonard E. Larson. They made their home in Ponca City until 1965 when they moved to Sallisaw, Okla. In 1970 they moved to Alaska where they spent the last 32 years in Wasilla.
Survivors include her husband Leonard; three sons, Gary Larson of Wasilla, Lonnie Larson of Claremore, Okla., and Richard Larson of Anchorage; five grandchildren, Ken and Monica Larson, Eric Larson, Matt Larson, Jeff Larson, Angie Larson; and three great-grandchildren, Angel Larson, Kendal Larson and Serena Larson; brothers Harry L. Tapp Jr. of Ponca city, William H. Tapp of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; sisters Frances Schidhauer of Sallisaw, Betty Elliott of Las Vegas, Nev., Letty Bell of Flower Mound, Tex., Collene Linebarger of Lewisville, Tex., and Joanne Fopma of Paramount, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Harry L. Tapp Sr.; and grandson Tory Larson of Easley, S.C.
Her family said, "She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her."
Arrangements were made by Kehl's Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
