Edward E. Peck, 43, resident of Wasilla died of a heart attack on May 28, 2012, while hiking on Mount POW/MIA in the Chugach Range. He was born in Seattle, Wash., to Ernest and Velma Peck.

Ed lived a rich and full life. He grew up in Edmonds, Wash., graduated from Woodway High School, and then graduated from the University of Washington as an electrical engineer. He followed in the footsteps of his father by working at Boullion in Seattle.

Ed married the love of his life, Jody Meek, in 1995. Soon after, they moved to Alaska and began their family. Life took on more adventure with the births of Colby, Kendall, Jonathan, and Abigail. And just when Ed was sure that life couldn’t get any better, along came Emma, his precious baby girl. Ed was a man with a heart devoted to his family.

Ed is remembered fondly by colleagues as a brilliant engineer with a kind, patient, humble, but confident demeanor who was dedicated to his clients and engineering principles. Ed joined AMC Engineers in Anchorage in 1998, was named an Associate in 2004 and a Principal in 2005. He was the youngest Principal at the firm.

During his career, Ed earned many accolades and national and regional recognition for his work. He was especially proud of his work in the Mat-Su Borough, where he lived. Ed’s projects included many schools in MSBSD.

Recent projects included the University of Alaska Anchorage Sports Arena, PAMC Emergency Power Supply System, University of Alaska Fairbanks Engineering Building, and the Gateway Aquatic Center in Ketchikan. Ed was instrumental in training and mentoring junior engineers, while ensuring that he taught them that family and friendship were just as important as technical knowledge.

A man of passion and integrity, Ed did everything with his whole heart and pursued excellence. For Ed, following God was more than just attending church at Church on the Rock. He had a very personal relationship with Jesus Christ and deeply understood the love of God. He wanted those around him to know and experience that love. He enjoyed leading youth, teaching kids, praying for the sick, fishing trips with family and friends, lake days, and so much more. He poured out his life for those around him. It was his favorite thing to do.

Preceding him in death was his father, Ernest Peck Jr.

Surviving are his wife, Jody; children, Colby, 14, Kendall, 11, Jonathan, 9, Abigail, 6, and Emma, 6 months; mother, Velma; brother, Ernie and his wife, Elicia; nieces and nephews, Samantha, Victoria, Natanya, Julia, Benjamin, and Andrew — all of whom are looking forward to the day when they will see Ed again in heaven.

The family would like to thank all who have helped in this difficult time. They have been incredibly blessed by the amazing outpouring of love shown to them.

A memorial fund for Ed’s wife and children has been set up at Alaska USA Federal Credit Union in the name of Jody Peck.
