PALMER — Track CJ Palin, the 28-year-old eldest son of former Wasilla Mayor, Alaska Governor and GOP Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, was arrested Saturday night and arraigned on Sunday on charges of burglary in the first degree, assault in the fourth degree and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.
The assault, Wasilla Police Department reports say, was committed against Track Palin’s father Todd, and called into police by Sarah Palin, who reportedly told dispatchers Track was ‘freaking out’ and was on some type of medication.
As police pulled up to the residence at 8:37 p.m. Saturday night, they say two vehicles were pulling away, and one of them contained Todd Palin, who appeared to have injuries to his face. Sarah Palin was in the other vehicle, and according to reports, she told police Track was still inside the residence.
Track, police said, yelled back at them as they asked him to come off the porch, but Track reportedly called the police ‘peasants’ and told them to lay their guns on the ground.
After 10 to 15 minutes, communication with Track was resumed, police say, and Track was handcuffed without incident.
Police say Track told them the altercation was the result of a dispute with Track and Todd about a vehicle and when Track arrived at the house, he knocked on the front door, and getting no response, looked through the window to see his father pointing a gun at him.
According to police, Track said he repeatedly told his father to shoot him. Todd then tapped the barrel of the gun to the window, so track ‘punched and broke the window.’
“Track stated he then went through the broken window and disarmed Todd and put him on the ground,” wrote officer Adam LaPointe in his report. “While Track had Todd on the ground he started hitting todd in the head. Todd was able to get away from Track and get out of the residence.”
Todd Palin told police in interviews that the argument started because Track called to say he was going to get his truck. Todd told him not to because he’d been drinking and was on medication, only to be told by his son that he was coming over anyway to “beat his ass,” provoking Todd to grab his pistol.
Todd told police he decided not to shoot his son when he came through the window, and after the ensuing altercation he was left with numerous injuries to his head and face including several cuts and blood coming from his ears.
Track pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge of weapon possession while intoxicated and entered a plea agreement to include 30 days in jail plus 30 days suspended sentence.
His bail was set at $5,000 cash with release to a third-party custodian.
This was far from Track Palin’s first run-in with Mat-Su authorities. He had been on probation from a 2016 domestic violence arrest.
