ELEANOR RUTH PICKNEY

Palmer Resident Eleanor Ruth Pickney died Aug. 14, 2003, at Valley Hospital, from a heart attack. A private service will be held with James Pickney officiating.

Mrs. Pickney was born Oct. 8, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas. She came to Alaska in 1970 and worked for Whitney Fidalgo Fish Co. from 1970-1971. Her education was in homemaking and child rearing. Her hobbies included sewing, animal observation and raising Rat Terriers.

Her family wrote, "Ruth was a joy to have around. She enjoyed her two prize boys, James III and John James, her two grandchildren Kelly-Jean and James IV. She also loved the lord and her Bible study."

She is survived by her husband James Louis Pickney Jr.; sons James Louis Pickney III and John James Pickney; daughter-in-law Tamala Louise Pickney; grandchildren James Louis Pickney IV and Kelly-Jean Pickney; grandparents-in-law James Louis and Mary Jean Pickney; brother-in-law Edward Lee Pickney and sister-in-law Sara Ellen Pickney.

Mrs. Pickney's ashes will be scattered in Fort Worth at a later date.
