Elections aren’t a union conspiracy

To the editor,

Alaska Republican Assembly president Daniel Hamm was quoted from a Facebook post in the ADN on Oct. 8 as saying that the unions “trounced” a ballot initiative to move October’s local elections to November “because they can dominate a low 10-13% voter turnout with an off-cycle election date.”

I was tempted to let Mr. Hamm maintain his illusion but... not. Personally, I have no connection to a union. When making my decisions on how to vote I read both sides of the issues, weigh the pros and cons then make what I consider an informed decision. Mr. Hamm can assume some other non-union voters do the same. Maybe it’s NOT a union conspiracy.
