Eliasson John VanPelt passed away very unexpectedly December 15th, 2023 at 24 years old. Our family is absolutely devastated and shocked by this loss.

Eli was born January 28th, 1999 in Mt. Vernon, Washington to parents Nathan and Jennifer VanPelt. He grew up in the Mat-Su Valley where he spent his spare time hunting on the Denali Highway, fishing the Kenai Peninsula & Copper River, gold mining in Cache Creek, hiking “Peak of the Week,” running cross country & track for Wasilla High, and competing in chess tournaments. Eliasson graduated from Career Tech High School in 2017 and completed 3 years at UAF in their civil/mining engineering program. At his time of passing, he was living in Albuquerque, NM where he worked as a security guard.

Anyone who knew Eli, knew that they were in the presence of a beautiful, kind, and gentle soul. He was always a source of positivity and support, willing to help anyone who needed it. He had an immense passion for hockey and was a Vegas Golden Knights fan from the team’s beginning. Eli had a large network of online friends that stretched all over the world. They knew him as “Stormy.” Eliasson’s family and friends will miss him more than words can say.

He is survived by parents Nathan & Jennifer VanPelt, sister Allison VanPelt, grandparents John & Lori Bowers, Jeff & Twila Schmidt, Christine Hare, Steve VanPelt, great aunt and uncle Kim & Mike Lindley plus many more extended family members that absolutely adored Eli.

A Celebration of Life for Eliasson will be held on January 28th, 2024 12pm at Government Peak Chalet.
