EllaMae Price Pohle, 87, of Palmer, died at Valley Hospital on Dec. 29, 2004. A memorial service will be held for her in the Palmer Seventh-day Adventist Church at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 29. Her final resting place will be by her husband in Winchester, Va.

Mrs. Pohle was born in Stanley, Va., on Sept. 18, 1917, to Samuel and Annie Price. She married Clifton Hubert Pohle in 1939, and they enjoyed more than 60 years together.

They resided in Takoma Park, Md., where Mrs. Pohle had a home day-care center and Mr. Pohle had a roofing business. She was active in both community and church activities.

After retiring to Winchester, Va., she volunteered regularly in the Lord Fairfax Food Bank and the Winchester Seventh-day Adventist Community Service Center. She was an excellent seamstress and cook and was known for her hospitality.

After suffering a massive stroke in 1999, she and her husband moved to Palmer to live with their only child, Gloria Hensel, and her husband, John. She enjoyed her weekly outing to the Palmer Adult Day Center and found great joy in her grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Her family wrote, "EllaMae's love for her family and friends was steadfast throughout her life. Her greatest joy was in helping others."

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and John Hensel of Palmer; grandchildren, Greg, Brian, and Alicia Hensel and great-granddaughter, Lanèa.

Mrs. Pohle was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton; sisters, Thelma Duvall and Alma Goode and her three brothers, Howard, Paul and Alfred Price.

Arrangements were made by Kehl's Palmer Mortuary.
