WASILLA — Emergency units responded to fires at a pair of business within the span of about an hour Wednesday afternoon.
Three departments were at Tan Alaska, along the Parks Highway in Wasilla, after a report of a fire came in at 11 a.m., according to Mat-Su Borough Emergency Services Acting Director Ken Barkley. There were three occupants in Tan Alaska, which is in a building that includes four adjacent businesses. All of the occupants got out, Barkley said, and the other businesses were not affected.
Just more than an hour later at 12:10 p.m., three other departments responded to a fire at a fiber optics repair business off the Palmer-Wasilla Highway. There were three people inside, Barkley said. One female occupant had to jump out of a second story window, but there were no injuries reported, Barkley said.
