A three-time Emmy Award winner is bringing his talents to the Palmer Public Library Tuesday morning.
Bobby Norfolk, an internationally acclaimed storyteller, will be at the library at 10 a.m. Tuesday to perform and talk to the audience.
Norfolk promotes cultural diversity, self-esteem an character education through his stories.
He uses lively sound effects, a lot of energy and three-dimensional visuals to give his characters life and enthrall the audience.
Alaska is just another stop in his world travels. Norfolk has performed around the world, including in Austria, Ireland, West Africa and Canada.
His career path is very varied. Norfolk grew up in St. Louis and worked as a stand-up comedian there. He then worked for 10 years as a National Parks Service ranger, presenting historical interpretive programs to school groups and the community. In the evenings, he worked with local theater groups.
From there, he turned to storytelling, and began that profession full time in 1987.
He has served on the board of directors for the St. Louis Storytelling Festival, Missouri Storytelling and most recently was voted to serve with the National Storytelling Network.
