To the editor:
I could be wrong, but I think the universe is simply an outward manifestation of a primordial form of logic that is made up of intelligence and emotion. Although the source of intelligence and emotion is a mystery, when they unite into a logical force, the laws of physics were established, causing the Big Bang to form the universe, where fear and desire governs an emotional realm-of-life. Intelligence is expressed through the laws of physics, while emotion is expressed by a will to live.
The laws of physics cause constant changes in the physical environment and adapting to change results in the process of evolution, which brought about higher forms of life, including sentient beings who developed the use of reason and an awareness of passion. Reason and passion are specialized applications of intelligence and emotion that enable human beings to make choices and plan for the future, as well as create a non-physical inner self from the knowledge and emotional experience acquired from living a human life. Although death marks the end of a person’s physical life, our inner self is not subject to the laws of physics; therefore, it continues to exist in a spiritual realm of souls.
The very first human being was a primate that became self-conscious when it recognized its own individuality. When it died, its inner-self became a lonely soul in a “nothingness.” In order to continue to experience human life, that first “original” soul established a system of reincarnation by entering the body of a newborn babe with the baby’s first breath of air, which awakened the self-consciousness of the baby. From within the baby’s subconscious mind, the original soul became an objective observer of the baby’s human experience.
When it died, there was a role reversal when the baby’s inner self was absorbed into the mind of the soul, where the inner self became the observer. After a time of reflection, the original soul and its second incarnation entered the body of another newborn babe and began a third incarnation. Other primates that achieved self-consciousness also became an original soul when they died, and they too began their own series of reincarnations.
When we human beings die and enter the realm of souls, it is likely that our inner self is greeted by our departed loved ones, as well as by the kindred spirits who preceded us in the ongoing development of our common soul — which we will observe through its future incarnations.
Since our human lifetime is only equivalent to a single “day” in the life of our original soul, if we direct our use of reason and passion toward the wellbeing of the community that sustains us, then perhaps our soul will “have a nice day” during this incarnation, instead of experiencing the miseries caused by stupidity. The only purpose of existence is to express intelligence and experience emotion.
